What are you giving up for Lent?

Like most Catholics, I'm going to Mass today to have ashes put on my forehead as a sign of repentance from sin, and a reminder of mortality and reliance on God. Ash Wednesday also marks the beginning of Lent, a 40 day fast in anticipation of Easter.

So, what are you giving up for Lent this year? Let me know in the comments!

  1. It would be coffee but...it's roll up the rim!
I'll settle for something stupid like chocolate.
I know it's supposed to be something of a sacrifice and hopefully for one's benefit but I don't really feel like it. Beside most people don't really do anything very hard anyway, so chocolate seems good enough.

  2. haha, thanks for your comments. sounds like a good plan for something to give up for Lent. Also, you don't always have to give something up. You can take things up like being more charity, patient, loving, etc.

  3. Soft drinks. They are so bad for me and this includes diet ones. So yeah, no softdrinks for me. I am thinking of continuing this after Lent too. I love carbonated drinks but not the sugar and aspartame etc... so maybe I will mix carbonated H2O with pure OJ. Sounds yummy!

  4. Great idea. Give up soft drinks, and start healthy drinks.
