Pray for Copts

Coptic Christians are being slaughtered in Egypt. It's a very sad situation. Now that the dictator, Hosni Mubarak is gone, these Christians have no protection from the violent mobs and military. First, their churches were being destroyed by the violent mobs, then while they were peacefully protesting, the military opened fire on them killing 26 people, and injuring over 200 more. It's truly shocking and terrible. I can't believe this is happening.

  1. Thank you for calling attention to this...

As a Catholic, I support the Body of Christ by sponsoring an orphaned in Egypt. I got involved in 2006 when I was praying in the National Basilica in front of an icon of Our Lady. I felt like she wanted me to return the hospitality that the Holy Family received when they sanctified Egypt with their footsteps. Since Christ and Our Lady changed my life, this was my way of returning it to Christ under the form of the "least of these," the orphan and widow (who are so close to God's heart throughout the Scriptures).

In the bargain, I feel like I'm working towards the reunification of the Churches by supporting the Church in Egypt. Coptic Orphans uses church-based volunteers who visit the homes of the orphan and widow. Check them out: http://www.copticorphans.org/
